The Ladies - Round Two

When we moved last June we were so excited to get chickens.  We had them within a week of moving to our little acreage and their coop and run were degenerating to say the least.  We lost 3 of 6 of those chickens before we ever got any eggs from them.  The remaining 3 became dinner... the last of which we had just last week.  Mmmm. There are 2 yogurt containers of stock in my freezer just waiting to be turned into pasta sauce or corn chowder one of these days.

This past month, one of our goals has been to fortify the chicken coop and rebuild their run and fencing.  Dave dug in a few solid posts and put on a new farm gate to the run.

The coop.

Perches for the ladies to sleep.... they like to sleep as if they were perched in a tree.

Millie waits patiently at the door for me.  She knows she is not allowed inside the run.

So tiny!
I am taking a while.
OH MIllie! You're soooo good!!!

Looking forward to our second round of adventures with THE LADIES.  In a month or so from now we'll be adding a Bantam Silver Pheonix Rooster.  He'll be black and white/silver in colour with long flow-y tail feathers.... only he'll be a shrimp in size compared to his ladies.   One last picture of Millie waiting for me outside the chicken run...

I LOVE MILLIE. Isn't she just sooooo gorgeous?! Stay tuned. In a year from now, when she's 2 we want to breed her. You KNOW you'll want one of her pups!

  1. They look so good and it will be great to have a "king" about. Although he is fairly big for a bantam and he will be quite comparable in size to your ladies when they are fully grown :)
